How it works

Public-key cryptography uses two keys that are mathematically linked. Anyone can use your public key to lock a message, but only your private key can unlock it.
That asymmetry is the whole trick: you can hand out the lock freely and keep the only key.
Why I built it
In high school, I built a huge Obsidian vault while preparing for technical interviews. I would spend hours understanding concepts through AI chats and YouTube, then come back a few weeks later and find that they felt foreign again. Saving things wasn’t the problem, I needed something that would bring them back before I forgot them. So I built Ember.
What it does
- ⌥S saves an answer from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity, a webpage or PDF, or a timestamped moment in a YouTube video.
- Ember automatically titles, tags, summarizes, and schedules everything you save.
- Each note returns after two days, then one week, two weeks, and one month. It gets shorter each time until you can recall it yourself.
- You can also search everything you’ve saved or ask questions answered only from your notes, with citations.
Use it if you learn new things every day but remember almost none of it a few weeks later.
